Oil leak
On my GL-1000 I have a oil leak from some thing that looks like a plug to the left of the oil level sight glass. Is it a plug and can I tighten it does it have a o-ring that mite need replaced.

Re: Oil leak
This question made me get up and go take a look at my '76. Sure enough, there's a hex headed bolt just to the left and slightly below the oil window, tucked down behind the frame. Looking at a cylinder block fiche here, I'm unable to find that bolt (unless it's #56 but, I don't think that's it). I'm certain that it's not a 'plug' and I'm also certain that I don't why it would be leaking.
Prior to trying to get a wrench on it, are you sure that the oil you think is coming from it isn't coming from some other location? Ol migrates with heat and air current and finding a leak can often be challenging. Try cleaning the entire area with soap and water then, go for a short ride and give it another look to be sure you're not focusing on the wrong location. It's been known to happen before (don't ask me how I know that) and you don't want to start cranking on the wrong part. The reason I suspect that the oil is coming from another location is that, in the past several years, I've never seen a thread here or at the NGW regarding a leak from this bolt.

I don't think we are looking in the same place. If you had a clymerin chapter three first page and on page 21 it is just above the brake petal

Re: Oil leak
I see what you're referring to now. Those are 'sealing bolts', #7 on the fiche link I provided . Yes, there's a seal to them. You can try to tighten them but, If I were you, I'd be careful. Both the bolts and the washers are still available from Honda.
