gl1000 trike build?
greetings to every one i have a donor bike that i would like to convert into a trike but i'm having trouble finding info on witch axle to use as a starting point as far as close enough gear ratios and input shaft rotation being correct. its a 1975 gl1000 it needs one of everything but i did a restoration on a 1976 gl1000 a few years ago so i'm prity well versed in the gold wing just need help with the trike part any help will be greatly appreciated and if there is any interest from other forum members i will document the build with pictures and comments as it goes thanks for taking the time to read this and Happy Trails

I believe, but I have been known to be wrong, that Ford put out a differential that could do the job. Well, that is what they mainly use for the 1500s to trike. You should check it out, it is either a 7inch or 7.25 inch, the Ford fraternity will know which vehicle it comes from, and you should be able to pick one up at a wrecker's yard.

Re: gl1000 trike build?
Hi I would like to know if you progressed any further with the Gl1000 Trike conversion as I have just had the spark of an idea to build one for my other half as she was put off riding her 650 Nighthawk when she slid on a cow pat in the lakes and almost hit the back of a Range rover.
I told her it was a testament to her good riding that A) she didn't fall off and B) that She managed to miss the Range Rover LOL.
Anyway I have just acquired 2 GL1000 motors that I hope to make one good one out of and than get a donor bike or frame and carry on from there.
Any info would be most appreciated.
John
