Whine in gears while accelerating

My '79 GW has a significant whine while accelerating in each gear. It goes away when cruising. Is this a big problem or easy fix?

Wings have fairly beefy, straight-cut gears. They whine under acceleration. You could try a different oil you think the amount of noise is excessive.

Do you have a suggestion for oil that would be quieter?

I use a Mobil 1 synthetic, but everyone will tell you something different that works for them.

What do other people use in their GL1000's?
