Tacho wiring
Ism installing restored GUAGES on my 76 LTD. I have a solid green wire and a Green with blk stipe coming out of the tach((not the lights). Where do I connect these? They both have connectors on them. The fuel guage works fine so I am thinking these go to the temp guage which since I reinstalled it has not been working. Also while fooling with the fuses I noticed the PO CUT A GREEN AND A GREEN WITH PURPLE STRIPED WIRE. They have been cut above the connectors in locate in the main wiring harness. Where the ell do these go and what are they for?

Re: Tacho wiring
I can't help you directly but have you tried to download the wiring manual for your bike in the section above?

Download this manual...Honda Goldwing GL1000 1975 to 1979 Service Manual-FEF7B.pdf
Page 311 has the schematic...It shows the wires you indicate...it appears that they go to the temp gauge in the tach.
I don't see a gr/purple....follow the wire back into the harness a few inches...this may yield its true color....exposed color coded wires do fade and change...It may be green/blue which is also a part of the temp circuit..actually it goes to the thermal sensor(temp control....the other wire(green/black) should be the 7 volt regulator...it feeds the temp gauge and fuel gauge...test for 7 volts DC with the key on...There's a regulator that could have failed....Replacements are avaiable from the "store" section .....

The green with black stripe is a 7 volt feed from the 7 volt regulator, and is used to run the fuel and temp gauges, which run on 7 volts.
I don't see a green/purple anywhere in the schematic - where exactly do you see it, and are you sure it's purple?
