I am considering buying a 1978 project bike. Will the earlier spoke rims will fit?

The speedometer drive is on the wrong side and the spacing on the rotors is wrong. It can be done and has been. If you google WhiteTrash you will find a 1978 by Greg Foresi. The wires wheels went in in 2012, the earlier photos show it with Comstars.
