79 CARB PROBLEMS NEW CARB PROBLEMS

I posted last week about idle problems with my carbs, a friend had a set of carbs that were rebuilt in 2012 by Pistol Pete he used them for awhile so I checked the bowls and cleaned them up. There was a bunch of crap in trhere and so I did a real good job cleaning jets and all that jazz. My problem now is the bike starts races up around 4000 RPM for 3 or 4 mins starts to back down and stalls I'm looseing it people any body got any suggestions that will help me get back on this bike !!!!!

Have you synched the carbs to your bike?

No but I would'nt think that the bike would race then stall if that were the case, amI wrong? They fire well sound even just races up then stalls in like two three mins!

Have you checked your floats? Fuel pump? Maybe fuel filter? Sounds like it is using up the fuel in the bowls, then dying.

took fuel pump apart cleaned minamal crap out fuel fileter is alittle old but clear, and these carbs were rebuilt in 2012 by Pistol Pete and never used ge had them on a bike that was OLOd obviously my point cleaned the bowls and jets when I got them and now having the problem I mentioned...

Had another set on there wouldnt return to idle after the bike got hot did'nt race just stalled after reving but could Idle for half hour no problem!

That could be a vacuum leak. If you spray starting fluid, WD-40, etc. in and around the carb area, does it rev up?

Tried that and it does the oppisit it slows the rev?
