Aftermarket Ignition or not?

Post by smshnick »

Hi, I'm a new GL1000 owner and am going through the bike fixing this and that to get it up to par and thought about installing a Dynatek S ignition. I hear good things about what they do for fuel economy and idle so I removed the ignition cover to take a look and it appears there may already be an electric ignition. Can anyone tell from the attached picture if that's what I've got or not? Thanks,

Nick D

Yup, you sure do! I'm not sure what manufacturer that is, but it's definitely electronic ignition pickups.

Thanks, I was afraid so. I'm having gas mileage / rough idle problems and thought a Dynatek would help..but if I've already got an electronic ignition, I guess a carburetor rebuild is the next logical step.
