1975 GL1000 serial numbers
Does any one know how, or has traced the history of older gold wings? I have a 75 wing- very low miles, would like to trace its history, but don't know where to start- found/bought it in Seattle in 2005- so it had a Washington title- (now has Alaska title) Any source of serial numbers when manufactured, sold thru dealers ect? Thanks, Dennis in Anchoarge

I'd be quite surprised if you came across anything like that. The only place I can think of would be Honda, and whether or not they still had 40 year old records of those bikes is dubious.

They rarely have our old bikes in them - and most of them require entry of standardized VIN numbers which didn't begin until 1981.motorcyclemedic wrote:Thanks!! I will keep looking- what about these VIN search websites? Know anything about them? Dennis

Honda has always kept all info as a closely guarded secret.WingAdmin wrote:I'd be quite surprised if you came across anything like that. The only place I can think of would be Honda, and whether or not they still had 40 year old records of those bikes is dubious.
Doubt they would tell youi anything.
Best way and not easy would be to do a title search thru the state DMV and then on to the next state.
Will cost you money as well as time.

Thanks everybody- right about title searches- for $13, told me I was the last buyer in 2007- this part of project is on back burner till bike is roadworthy again- Have done many mods, relays backing up headlight and radiator fan switches, Randakks Electric fuel pump with safety tilt switch ( I built these for Randall- this one was the prototype in 2007) converted to GL1200 clutch pack, with Hydraulic lever, new fuel tank, detailed engine, frame ect- Am down to finishing electric repairs on wiring, converting to LED lights, detailing front end- I need a new front fender if anyone knows a good source- Dennis in Anchorage

I have a few of them last I looked for the GL series. I think they are all the same.
You can have one but I don't know if it would be worth it to you for the shipping cost.
You said you built the fuel pumps for Randall. Why did he stop selling them?

Hello guys,
Yes, I am studying the timeline for the production of the GL1000 and their frame (serial) number) sequencing.
I have some info now and perhaps I can answer some questions.
Let me know your questions and we will try to get you answers.
