got 79 gl1000 parts will fender fit my 82?

I just found a 79 gl1000 at my local salvage yard with a lot of good parts and chrome on it. My question is will the chrome front fender from the 79 work on my 82? It also has chrome valve covers and chrome timing belt covers which I would like to replace my aluminum ones with. Will the timing belt covers and valve covers from a 1000 work on an 1100 and can I get the timing covers off with the motor still in the bike? Thanks for the help guys,,,Rick

You can remove the timing belt covers with the motor in the bike just 4 x 10mm bolts.

whether the covers would fit - check the part numbers for each year model would probably confirm if they are compatible.

The fender will fit. I put one on my '81 Wing a number of years ago. You will have to drill holes on the forks to bolt on the bottom brace. Just match the spot with the GL1000. Doug
