what original blinker looks like and connects
I have a 1979 honda gl 1000. When I purchased it it was fairly stripped down with no front blinkers. The manual I have doesnt give a good understanding on where the blinker is attached or how and nothing on the front to make it clear. What is the original blinker and how did it attach to the bike. I would love to replace.

The blinker shape is good but the part that is throwing me is how it connects to the bike itself

I believe the 79 had a round lamp. Mine did. It used a splined bracket with a clamp. It was part of the "HONDA" plastic badge located just under the headlamp.
Go to Bing and search "1979 Goldwing turn signal pic"
On my 1984 it had the rectangular type and attached to a threaded bracket.

take a look here, lots of hondas use these, my cx has cbf ones on it, cant tell the difference. just have to get the right rubber bushings for the inside so they fit the fork. You are after part 16, the rubber bushings go in each end. http://www.midwesthonda.com/fiche_secti ... veh=132887
here is the blinker as well
