I've always liked the look of the GL1000 so I decided it would be the platform for my latest project. A friend located one in a barn w/ just over 42k on it. I went through it, serviced it, got it running, and then began the tear down and build up process. It took about 6 months but came out pretty good. There's build info and what not on my personal website, hgarage.com.

The solid wheels look great! Where did you get them?

In the write up on his site he says they are covers that he had made to look like a solid wheel.offcenter wrote:The solid wheels look great! Where did you get them?

I've seen this bike before but I would have sworn it was done somewhere in Europe. Guess not, OP says he's in KY and so does the bio on his website. Mean looking 1000. I'm not a big fan of heavily modded GWs but at least this was done to a '78 and not one of the good looking 1000's, haha. Throw some dirt on it and it'd look straight out of Mad Max.

Nice wheels, but I would never be able to make anything like that.

I'm sure they would be very hard to do on your own.

Proper name for them is "moon" discs first used on Hot Rods back in the 50's I think named after the guy that first made them Dean Moon. Still popular today with rods. By the way look good on a Bobber.

I haven't been big on the chopped up Wings. But, I do have to say, you did an awesome job and I consider yours the exception. Very nice, very classy, and very unique work. Thank you for sharing. WOW!
