No power when I turn the key
No power when I turn the key
Hey
So I'm new to this whole thing but I need some help. I have a 76 gl 1000. So I took the bike out about 2 months ago and it had been running great did about 2000 miles the first month. then we had rain for four days so when I went to start her back up no power. I have had this problem before but it was the dogbone. So I checked the dogbone and I'm getting 12.6 volts on the far end.
Thanks
Nate

Re: No power when I turn the key
Are you seeing any power at any of the fuses when you turn the key on? What about when you turn the key to the "P" park position?
Try wiggling both ends of both battery cables to make sure they are solid and tight - do this with the bike turned on, so you'll know instantly if a cable is intermittent (the bike would suddenly come alive).

Re: No power when I turn the key
Just for clarification, no lights, right? If so, might be your ignition switch, sounds like what you're leaning toward.

Yes no lights or anything nothing turns on when I turn the key. No lights nothing on the dash no indication of being in neutral or what light in on

Re: No power when I turn the key
If you can pull the switch or get to the back of it, check for continuity as the key is turned. There is a wiring diagram here. >> /Docs/Honda%20Go ... -429BB.jpg <<

Re: No power when I turn the key
You pulled the harness plug from the bottom of the switch to check for voltage on the red wire? On the switch side, in the on position, There should be continuity between the corresponding contact from the red wire to each of the other contacts except the Brown/green stripe. and in park that's the only one that should be continuous. I wanna qualify this by saying I'm figuring this out from the wiring diagram. The contacts are on the right in this photo.
