carb issues
carb issues
I have a 76 wing. Love this thing. My problem is i've had the carbs "overhauled" but am once again having trouble. One intermitantly leaks fuel then runs ok. I'm in central illinois and am looking for a good carb rebuilder. Starting to get frustrated. Even thought about trying to locate a 4 into 1 intake, i've heard they are out there for these bikes.

Re: carb issues
Not an experienced carb person, but I got a rebuild kit and video fro Randakk's and it was pretty simple. Probably less than a single intake and carb set up and you have the carbs for your bike. Where's the leak?
Keep your expectations tiny and you won't end up so whiny.
Re: carb issues
The right front carb. Sometimes it like runs over and the bike runs rough. If I let it sit then it does ok. I thought about getting four carb kits and rebuilding them all myself. Or does someone make one kit for all four carbs?

http://randakks.com/products/randakks-o ... erhaul-kit That's all 4. I got the video as well. Does it leak in to the plenum or just out of the bowl? If you need new float valve(s) , get them from Honda.

Re: carb issues
Not sure about where it leaks. It's strange because it does this intermitantly. Then it clears up. I did some digging and it seems the guy that redid the carbs before didn't replace any gaskets but rather just took them apart and cleaned them. Not exactly what I paid for! Thanks for the website thats awesome!

Re: carb issues
several good rebuilders..about $400 you ship the carbs to them and they rebuild, test and send back Pistol Pete is one..Sounds like yours is a float needle issue..not seating correctly.

Re: carb issues
If not the float valve then a sticky float. After market float valves are notorious for being worthless. Honda OEM are necessary to insure quality. And float valves don't come with the Randakk kit for this reason. As for a qualified Wing carb tech, they are few and far between but you already know this. I recommend PistolPete. Expensive but he will get the job done correctly.

Re: carb issues
This may be old info to most. I have a 76 Gl1000 with a 79 engine. My carbs are for the 76 engine. The carbs are different for a 79 due to a cam change in late 78. You can not interchange carbs due to to different bore sizes (smaller on the 79). The carb Id #s available through Randak's Web info.
