Hey guys. We just got a '77 gl1000 today from an auction of a Honda dealership that went out of business 30 yrs ago, and the family just liquidated.

I'm sure my husband will be on here a LOT getting her up & running again. Right now, it's one FUGLY bike, but the price was definitely right.

He's stripping off the fairing, bags, and trunk, and making her NEKKID, as she was meant to be. So when he gets it in the garage this winter and starts stripping it, there will be some items listed for sale, I'm sure

I think it needs a bigger windshield (sarcasm*)

has keys for trunk, but not for bags, they're not locked, and were removed when we trailered it home

Welcome, I recently picked up a neglected one owner 77 GL 1000 standard myself. The old fellow passed away and had just let it set up for years. Right now I have it stripped down to the frame and engine and am doing basically everything to it. If you post a problem on yours, I'll try to help you out.

He has since also removed the false tank, and it's sitting totally nekkid now I'm sure he'll be on here more than once asking advice and lurking in the how-to section

Very cool. And very cool it still has the headlight bucket under that funky fairing. I'd read about the Greenfield auction. Would have been neat to have been there. Here's a crappily (if that's a word) filmed walk through of the shop. The red '77 is at 5:50.

I can't get over how much better it looks, naked. We were surprised that the headlight bucket was still there too. I think we're going all LEDs , the headlight, the turn signals and brake lights. My SIL is a tractor mechanic and a LED light distributor
