Engine swap possibility
I've got a '76 GL1000 that had a run-in with a truck and sustained some terminal engine damage. I also have an '83 with a twisted frame, but a good engine. So my question is... How much of a job is it to put that "83 engine in the "76 frame? And what sort of changes will need to be performed electrically etc. ? or if someone can direct me to an already written article. Thanks in advance for the help!

Re: Engine swap possibility
The 1100 ignition will interfere with the 1000 frame but it can be done with modification.

Yes, just keep that donor engine handy when you find issues, certainly there may be some helpful parts on that damaged engine.

Re: Engine swap possibility
It requires a little grinning on the frame were the 1100 electronic ignition is or moving/adjusting the mount points forward a bit..so the whole engine sits forward a tab.
HAD LOTS OF GOLDWING 75-83
