1976 No rear turnsignals

1976 No rear turnsignals
Noticed last night after a ride neither rear turn signals are blinking. Front ones work ok. changed bulbs didn't help. Checked fuses nothing. Did notice wiring to the right of the battery were extremely HOT. Guessing this could be part of problem, short of some kind? Has anyone else had this and any guesses where to start looking.
