Lester wheels
I picked up a set of Lester Mags for my 1977 Gold Wing 1000. The tires I'm using are Avon MT's. The front tire is great but I need advice on the rear. I've gone from a stock 4.50 H17A wire wheel to a 16 in. Lester. The rear tire that was recommended is an Avon MT90-16 (74V). My problem is that the tire rubs the swing arm housing / drive shaft housing , ever so slightly on the right side. I see where the housing is indented for the tire on a 17 in rim, but the 16 in comes up a little short. My question is, what is the fix? Trying to find a thinner tire ,for the 16 in wheel isn't that easy. Can I grind some metal (the seam) off the housing? Any help would be appreciated.......P.S. The Lesters look GREAT!!!!

This would have maybe been a better choice, Avon AM26 Roadrider 130/90-16 74V TL Rear
But yes, you can take the seam off and even cut the arm back very slightly as long as you weld a flat plate in place. This really should to be done wth the arm jigged to prevent any distortion.

'Impossible' is just a level of difficulty! The only stupid question is the one you didn't ask first!
