The owner of the bike I'm looking at doesn't want to come down on the price because he says the bike has the kick start option, so that makes it more rare. I thought they all had that, someone set me straight!
Thanks!

Re: 76 gl1000 kick start "option" ?
Nope,
1975, 1976, and 1977 all came factory equipped with an emergency back up kickstart lever and mechanism.
1978 and 1979 model did not.
The kick start lever alone can bring $100. used
That being said, the kickstart option wouldn't sway me to pay a premium.

My early '75 has one and, to be honest, it's such a PITA to use, the only time I get it out is to show to people who have never seen one!maintainer wrote:Nope,

That adds nothing to the value of the bike. It sure wouldn't cause me to pay a premium because it had a kick starter. I have a 76 and have used the kick starter only once just to test it out. I guess it doesn't matter though if the seller thinks it so then it is so.

Ain't that the truth! I'm going there Sunday, it's about an hour and a half from me, and see if I can convince him that they all have it. He is asking $500 for it, so it's not like it's going to break the bank. He says it's complete but there are some parts missing in the photos. But really, what's the difference if a crappy part is there that needs replacing or it's missing and needs replacing. Right?dingdong wrote: I guess it doesn't matter though if the seller thinks it so then it is so.
