Where is a good source of getting the bleeder screws and crush washers for my 1977 GL1000? Want to avoid dealer at all costs.
Checked fleabay and the only way I see is to buy the entire rebuild kit.

just a thought here, you could try taking you bleeder screw and crush washer to your local auto parts store and have them match the parts up to new ones. i did that for my 83 aspy and got good results.

Both are just standard metric items, any good hardware store would have the washers. After all, a washer is just a washer.badandy wrote:Where is a good source of getting the bleeder screws and crush washers for my 1977 GL1000? Want to avoid dealer at all costs.

Same with a auto parts store for the bleeder which is 8x1.25 thread.

Dorman #13902 for the bleeder screws. In the HELP section at Auto Zone. $3.89 for two.
Washers are a little more difficult. I can find the correct i.d., but the o.d. is too big on all the ones I have found to fit the boss on the caliper housing. Boss measures about 16mm. Ok for the outer washer.
I have reused crush washers before. A little heat with a propane torch and they get soft enough to seal again. Like to have a set of new ones though.

a good auto parts store will have an "assortment box" in their back room or on a "stock shelf". ask them to match one up. take the banjo bolt with you along with the old crush washer and let them look thru their selections and find one that will fit. (hint), i got mine from O'reilly's auto parts store.

Re: Caliper bleed screw and crush washers
Got the crush washer assortment pack for $6.00 at Advance Auto Parts.
Had to use a bleeder repair kit on one of the screws. Rusted solid. Tried all my tricks to remove: Heat, easy out, PB Blaster, etc. Finally drilled it out and saved the caliper using this kit. http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/dorm ... repair+kit#
Here are the front calipers all rebuilt and painted ready to go back on.download/file.php?mode=view&id=30795

Keep riding her regular and it will not get like that again. Using antiseize on the bleed screws can work well for long term use.
You can be proud of that rebuild. Looks as great as it will be just as reliable.
