GL1000 Fork Tubes

Post by vizier »

I'm fixing up an old 76 gl1000 and I need to replace the fork tubes. I was wondering if there was another model they might swap with. I've seen a list of various 37 diameter forks but I'm pretty sure not all fork tubes are made equal lol. Please help I've been trying to find some online!

Arkansas Wings Salvage north of little rock and Bobs salvage in the same vicinity and on down on 71s around Waldron is a salvage can't remember the name. I knew about the one on 71 but google had a good list under mc salvage Ar. Also ebay also had a good list of the forks you are looking for.
What else are you doing to the wing? Any pictures, keep us posted.. Oh on graigslist there is a person that has a gl1000 service manual for sale in Fort Smith if your close. Gotta have a manual (best money you can spend)

Need to know your purpose of rebuilding. There are many other forks that can work, but if you want her skinny 37 tubes then best to replace them with early wing ones. But latter fork tubes can be rebuilt and they also are bigger diameter so they are less flexi.

The tubes are pitted and a little rusty. I have a feeling they're gonna leak and I wanted to replace the tubes before I got it all back together! Thanks for the info redbug I'm gonna check that out!
