Electrical component question

Post by randomman02x »

I'm currently rebuilding a 76 gl1000 and I ran into this component of the electrical system. It's a silver box with no markings on it and the previous owner added his own wires so I am not really sure what it does or where the wires connect. It has 2 black wires, a light green wire, and a white wire with a black stripe (underneath light green wire in picture). There is also a black wire coming from the bottom right side of the engine, would this wire go to this component?

Light green can be the horn, so you might be looking at a relay that was installed to be able to handle the higher current of an aftermarket horn. Put a meter on it and press the horn button, see if you get +12v when the horn button is pressed.

Solid black is generally +12V (switched with ignition), solid dark green is ground.

Not sure what the white/black wire is, I'm not seeing a white/black wire on the 1976 wiring schematic.
