Hi new to Gold Wings I have nice 78 GL 1000.
Was wondering if anyone knew of somewhere I can get a dipstick
with the markings of low to high?
Bad back makes it hard to put up on centerstand. I can straddle semi level.
Thank you so much in advance

Re: Looking for an oil dipstick
I thought they only have a sight glass window - which is a bugger to look at - down on the right hand side - you have to lay on the concrete to get ANY idea where the level is - the sight glass also has a small flat screw which operates a wiper blade inside the sight glass sort of. Best way I found was when empty and filling it up I could see the level raise. As soon as I saw it come across the sight glass- I slowly topped it up to halfway on the level.
Not an easy job - same as on the GL1100 I had. There are dipsticks out there for GL1100 I bought one but never installed it.

I did buy one from the USA... so do a search on the forum - you may find the seller. I know it looked good quality when I got it..

Re: Looking for an oil dipstick
JC Whitney made/sold them for a while for the GL1000 and GL1100 (maybe GL1200 as well) - they replaced the drain plug. Nobody still makes them new as far as I know.
You might want to check out the homemade versions that people have made - Littlebeaver made a good one here: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=12668

Thank you so much, you would figure someone in the aftermarket would still make these
