What Color is This?

Post by GL_Steve »

This is the only piece on the bike with any original Honda paint left on it and it isn't in great shape. It's definitely not any of the 76 colors - red, blue or yellow, guessing it is the Maroon.

Is this the maroon color?

I actually kind of like the color of that radiator support piece; trying to figure out exactly what that color is because I believe it isn't an actual 76 color.

One part looks purple, plumb crazy ?

But part of it looks copper as well.

Yeah, it is a weird one. Depending on how the light is shining on it it can look red-ish, blue-ish or purple-ish. Mostly in good light looking straight on, it is more purple-ish. Definitely metal flake, unsure if it is candied or even cleared for that matter as it is too weathered.

I buffed/cleaned the piece up with some polishing compound and put some oil on it to make it pop and it is looking like it is the 78 color Candy Grandeur Blue. Hard to get a pic that doesn't look purple though. I think I'm going to go with a metallic blue with a purple candy and hope for the best.

Mine is Candy limited maroon custom, R7CC, what a bitch to try and color match.

It's a 3 step paint and looks a different color, like you said, depending on how it is viewed.

This is what I'm seeing after cleaning it up and oiling it.

Pretty sure it's got to be the 78 blue, still looks purple-ish at some angles though.
