Looks like a 1100 clutch has been installed in my 1976 GL1000,thats why i found a shim on the casing.the reason why i stripped it in the first place was of a bad grating noise when setting of in first. All the plates are in the service tolerance,am just wondering wether i should put a GL 1100 clutch cover assembly on instead of using theGL1000 one,as the bigger clutch might need the appropriate adjuster\linkage for it to work smoothly?Has any body done this conversion? And if i did want to revert back to the standard 1000 clutch, would the engine have to removed from the frame?Any clues thanks in advance

It is a common update to put a 1200 clutch in a 1000. But when doing so, the engine needs to be removed from the bike to get it in. Not sure about the 1100 clutch. Each year newer in general was a better clutch. So you may be best sticking with the 1100 unit but I cannot be sure.
