OEM BRAKE PADS FOR A 1978 GL1000

Post by solinadave »

Hi..........My rear pads are getting worn. They're Honda OEM pads and have always been very quiet, no squeal, when applied. My front pads are EBC and have always squealed when applied. It's embarassing. I've had this motorcycle since it was new and I need new front and rear Honda OEM pads. Or,at the very least, brake pads of high quality that will not squeal. Has anybody got any ideas or reliable sources that I could hook up with? I've got 450,000 Kms. on this bike and these most necessary parts are hard to get it seems.

Thankyou.......................Dave

Don't think you will find any OEM brake pads. Try Frenchy at Crescent Moon. http://www.crescentmooncycles.com/

I have found both front and rear OEM pads for my '79 on ebay. It's takes perseverance in looking for them though. Another brand you can also look for is Vesrah. I have a set of those on the front right now and they have a minimal squeal, much less than the EBCs and good performance, too. Those also have more grooves which can improve wet weather performance. You're definitely right about the squeal that the EBCs make, especially on the front.
