Looking at a set of Lester mags on ebay for my 1977. Are these direct swaps or do you have to play with axle spacers and caliper shims, etc?
Really like the looks of them and my old spokes are rusted pretty bad. Also like the idea of maybe running tubeless tires.

Re: Lester mag wheel compatability
Don't know what year the Lesters were made for but I know that using a Lester on the rear of a GL requires a bit of work.badandy wrote: ↑Sun Jul 30, 2017 10:19 am Looking at a set of Lester mags on ebay for my 1977. You can't remove the rear wheel with the disc on.
I've been told that most change the bolts holding on the disc to allen head type.
This make it easier to remove the disc.

Re: Lester mag wheel compatability
Not a bad deal, if the rear wheel is the most common 16 inch Lester, the rear disc does get removed to pull the rear wheel but that is not a bad deal. Best to remove the disc studs using double nuts then replace the studs with grade 8 bolts to ease future removal. They are nice wheels and tubeless is a nice option.
