Hondaline luggage keys
Hello everyone, first post to the forum! Does anyone have an ILCO key blank number for the Hondaline luggage. I have the 3 tumbler lock. Or a picture of an oem key so I can have my locksmith visually match a blank. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Hondaline luggage keys
You mean the Samsonite cases ?
The keys are different, there should be a number on top of the lock.

Re: Hondaline luggage keys
The are the actual hondaline hard luggage. Samsonite style, but not Samsonite, I have seen those also. My lock number is 431, but my locksmith cannot find what blank fits it. I was hoping someone had the blank number so my locksmith can cross-reference it, or order it. This style https://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-HONDA- ... LR&vxp=mtr

Bet someone on here has a 431. I can check mine, that looks similar. I recall a 426 and will check tonight.

I have looked for years for blanks to no avail.
They actually are samsonites just with the Honda name plate.

Try this guy. Gary Smith. He has made keys for a lot of the "stray" bikes I have brought home with incomplete or missing keys. He hasn't failed me yet and is reasonable.

Re: Hondaline luggage keys
I've seen a lot of threads on this issue and most have no answer.
A couple has said they got keys made but they never said what blank was used.
The strange thing was that there was no follow-up by asking what blank was used.
I got two sets so it's not an issue for me.
For the life of me, I cannot imagine why they have two different locks for the 3 bags.
In my case, they are 432/435

Re: Hondaline luggage keys
There are not many numbers. My 432 and 436 are two of the 6 or so. Are they really Yale 14 blanks?

Amazing how help seems to be a one way street for some.
We ask for some help with an answer and it falls on dead ears.

Re: Hondaline luggage keys
Hello,
I've got the exact same bags on my 1981 GL1100, and I only have one key #431. This single soldier is rather twisted and mangled, but it does open the bags and remove them from the frame. I'm looking all over for blanks to duplicate my only original before it breaks and I'm out of luck.
My local Honda dealer does not have blanks, but told me the first part of the part number is 35122. This is not terribly helpful, but it's better than nothing.
I'm also looking for a blank for the Vetter trunk key. (I only have the single original for that too)

Re: Hondaline luggage keys
I have finally achieved success on getting duplicate keys for my Hondaline saddlebags for my '81 GL1100! I will post photos of my original key (#431) and the duplicates made with an "ilco D1098X DE4" blank. (NOTE: OEM blanks for this key proved to be impossible for me to find. I'm not saying they don't exist, but I sure could not find them) I had 3 duplicates made for a total of $12.90 at Golden Bear Lock & Safe. Their address is 7445 Daron Ct., Plain City, OH 43064. 614-722-5625, ask for Lori. (Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm EST) They are really, REALLY great!
Just FYI, another company (Bill [mailto:sales@keys4urride.com] ) said he could make me "1 key cut and shipped 1st Class Mail $13.00 2 keys cut $20.00". He said he would use an "ilco K1122D BN1" blank. I went with Golden Bear Lock & Safe because they are local to me, AND much less expensive! (I am told I'm very frugal/cheap)
I really hope this helps somebody else out there who is still looking for key blanks and/or needs duplicates. I can finally hit the road knowing I'll be able to open my bags, and remove/replace them even if the original key (now in my safe) is ever lost or destroyed. Ride hard or stay home!

Re: Hondaline luggage keys
I want to thank you guys very much for the information in this posting. I was down to one key for my luggage and getting a little panicky because as you know, lose that last key and you are in a world of hurt. No way to duplicate with just that number. I used the K1122D BN1 and had great success and even dipped the head a couple of times in some plasti dip I had laying around to give it a semi OEM look. Thanks to all for the great info.
