Headlight bulb to LED
Has anyone replaced their stock 12V 60/55w headlight bulb on a '78 GL1000 with a LED cluster? I made this swap on my '99 Valkyrie and had no problem, however, I don't know if the same can be said for an older bike. I know there are modules available to take care of a halogen/LED swap, but I'd like to know if there is a direct plug-in that will work.

Re: Headlight bulb to LED
There are headlight replacements that replace the whole thing - glass, reflector and all. You will find the results of those are going to be FAR superior in terms of light output amount and pattern, than any replacement bulb you can fit.pshaginaw wrote: ↑Sat Dec 30, 2017 11:48 am Has anyone replaced their stock 12V 60/55w headlight bulb on a '78 GL1000 with a LED cluster? Re: Headlight bulb to LED
My '76 GL has been running a LED headlight for several years now.
I got a H4 replacement bulb off of Ebay. It has a small fan on the
back to cool the bulb. Been working fine for around 7,000 miles
now. As I recall, it was around $16 at the time.
It is MUCH brighter than the stock bulb.
P.S. Just put two similar bulbs in my GL1500 yesterday.
WOW are they bright!
