Rust Inside Frame

Post by swr1977 » Tue Feb 27, 2018 12:59 pm

When cleaning the removable frame piece I found that rust coming out of bracket where the engine mounting blot goes through. My uncle suggested filling the holes where the weld isn't perfect with JB Weld and then painting when it dries! Thought I'd see if anyone had any other suggestions!

There is a drain hole at the bottom of the engine mounting bracket. It is meant to be open.

Not sure if closing it would be good or not.

These are not water drain holes but a bad weld for the engine mounting. No way for water to drain out!

Where exactly is the water drain hole your talking about?

What I'd like to know is if JB Weld and then re painting is the best way to fix?

Go to www.Wingovations.com. Look at the 'Technical Tips'page for your answer to this common problem. You are correct in your approach.

Thanks for the link... I read this page http://www.wingovations.com/checking-th ... 4579471101 and found great info.

Do you or does anyone have a list/pictures as to where all the frame drain holes are?

Yeah that's the page. John, who owns Wingovations, is on this forum as 'Old Fogey'. Always worth sending him a PM if you any specific questions. What he doesn't know about these bikes isn't worth knowing!
