Axle and front caliper

Post by zambeal » Sun Mar 18, 2018 8:29 am

This should be so easy but I’m struggling big time getting my front wheel back on correctly. I took everything off the front wheel to have it painted, when I get down to the last steps putting the calipers back on the one side slides in nice and the other side doesn’t, it’s like something shifted and there not enough room on that side now for the caliper to slip in? I’ve tried everything I’ve probably taken the wheel on and off 10 times, can the forkes have moves can I spread them apart or something??

Are you getting the axle all the way in and through? There may be an inner spacer in the wheel that is catching the shoulder of the axle. Are you missing the spacer on the end of the axle?

There’s only one spacer on my 79 and it’s on the right side seems to fit in nicely and both ends by the pinch bolts line up nice with the forks.
