Electrical
My 77 GL1000 K2 has never had any electrical problems in the past, but yesterday when I fired her up to go for a ride, the head light, tail light, and all 4 turn signals were on, but very dim and the turn signals would not flash. Checked battery, new 2 months ago, showed 12 volts at 86% charge. What do I check next?

Re: Electrical
Probably something to do with the reserve lighting system which is kind of a mysterious thing known only by Japanese monks or the main ground is bad, the one bolted to the upper ignition coil bolt.

Re: Electrical
Thanks, very helpful, I think I read that blog some time back, but I guess I've slept since then. Wasn't having any problems then, so it didn't soak in. Looks like I should check all bulbs first, then if they are all good, I'll suspect the RLU.

Re: Electrical
No, you should jumper those terminals and see if the lights work. That will prevent "suspecting" the RLU, it will let you know positively if it's good or bad.C. R. Are there any photos or videos available showing the jumper wire procedure?

Check the ground wire at the upper coil bolt.

Re: Electrical
On my 78 there is a 4 pin connector behind the headlight that connects the flasher to the lights and also two grounds to the light bucket bolts. Don't know if a 77 is similar but mine were corroded enough that I replaced that connector and the ground connections
