What Is This?

Post by landisr »

Hi. I am trying to untangle the wiring mess on my new 76 LTD and accidentally cut the wire to this sensor or switch. Can someone tell me what it is, and where I need to reconnect the black wire? I can't seem to identify it by either pictures or the wiring diagram in the Honda Shop manual.

Many thanks in advance.

Looks like someone has added an oil temperature sensor.

That is a possibility. There is a temp gage on the fairing 'dash', but I assumed it was for coolant. The gage displays a temp range of 0-300 F. Any idea what normally goes in that spot (on the motor 😀)?

Google is my friend again. Checking multiple images, it does indeed appear that there was just a plug there, and that DaveO430's estimation is most likely correct as well. I have removed the wire and will shop for a plug once more pressing tasks are completed.

Thanks, All. Enjoy the riding season while it's here.
