1976 GL1000 Slight Whine

Post by gfrench5@hotmail.com » Fri Mar 01, 2019 6:20 pm

Thanks in advance, last winter I went through my 1976 Sulphur Yellow Wing with 40,000 miles. New belts, tensioners, springs, water pump. All was good but I was experiencing a very slight high pitch whine at 2,000 to 3,0000 rpms. a little more noticeable on deceleration. I triple checked belt tension, seems OK. It does not seem to be left or right oriented, but seems to be frontal in engine. Drove 2,000 miles last year with no harm or adverse effects or change. Has anyone experienced this?? Thanks Glen French

this may sound far-fetched, but I had a whine kinda like that and in the end it turned out to be from speedo cable at certain rpm. probably not what you are hearing but more info to check on. Disregard if obviously not coming from there. I can't hear your noise LOL

I'll second that, it was an issue on the Yamaha Venture I had.
