No rear brake light

New to Wings, and have been enjoying it so far. I assume the bike I aquired had a fairing and bags on it at one time. They have since been removed and the bike was altered into somewhat of a cafe racer. Upon my purchase all the current lighting worked properly but the connections and wiring work were sub par to say the least. Currently the only turn signals on the bike are 1953 to 1959 BMW hella style bulls eyes mounted on the end of the handle bars (they work). There currently are no rear turn signals but the factory plug was disconnected and is laying under the rear seat. A vintage looking single 3 wire rear running/brake light has been installed. After several hundred miles I noticed the rear brake light not working (running light good). The wires in the fixture themselves were 20-22 guage and very light with poor insulation. I bought a new socket and ran the wires to the brown (running), green (ground), and green/yellow stripe (brake). I still have no brake light when the ignition is turned to the on position, but the running and brake light work when the ignition is turned to park. I have replaced the 5amp rear brake fuse. I am trying to get an idea which direction to go next. Ignition switch, or bad ground. Are the back turn signals part of the circuit and look the loose plug for a ground.

That´s the problem whenever they made mods to wiring.
By looking at the circuit I can see that turn signals and brake are energized by same lines protected with a 15 Amp fuse, not a 5 Amp. and while in park there shoudn't be power to rear brake light, so I suspect that you have either some crossed wires or maybe that turn signal plug under seat you mentioned must be conected to energize the brake switch.

Something is weird there, should be no brake light in park, just the rear running light.

It ended up being a crossed wire. Thanks for all the consideration.
