New to driveshaft stuff. I could use some leads or advice on changing and how often the driveshaft fluid.

The owner's manual for the GL1000 states to replace it every 25,000 miles.Joel Wayne wrote: ↑Tue Jun 04, 2019 7:36 pm New to driveshaft stuff. I could use some leads or advice on changing and how often the driveshaft fluid.

I typically do mine every other year, which works out to around 10,000-12,000 miles.

Welcome to this nice forum Joel:
At your question, it's bettrer to drive for about 1/2 hour to get the oil wamr so it flow better when the drain plug is removed, let it drain and refill with recomended fluid.
Per Clymer manual, it's recomended to replace oil every 22.500 Mi./36.000 Km.
Find attached lub chart.
Good luck with your bike, it's a great machine.

BTW it is wise to try open the fill port before draining. Some folks have had problems getting the refill cap off. So before draining make sure to loosen that plug. If you drain the diff before you do this you could be unable to get the troublesome refill cap off and be unable to ride your bike until you do.
