Re: Run Stop switch not working
Broken inside it?
Did it always do this?
Has someone bypassed it?

Re: Run Stop switch not working
Here's the basic schematic for the ignition.
Unless it's been modified..the black/brown is ignition switched power to the kill switch and black/white feeds the ignition.
You can prob e the wires to see if it's true.
Has it been modified with electronic ignition?

Keep is posted.Let is know if you do or do not find the problem.
Re: Run Stop switch not working
Can someone explain to me how does the run stop switch kill the motor ? I'm thinking it grounds the coils but not sure .

Re: Run Stop switch not working
It brakes the 12 volt power feeding the coils.Just like turning off a light switch.
Re: Run Stop switch not working
Ok so if I understand this right the run stop switch gets it's power from the ignition switch (key) . I am thinking since mine isn't working my coils must be getting power directly from the key , i am going to do some testing this weekend and try to figure this out ,

Re: Run Stop switch not working
You got it.All the power goes to the kill switch and then to the coil/points.
The kill switch cuts power to the coils/points.

Re: Run Stop switch not working
Ok so i opened the switch on the weekend and both the wires on the inside have no power to them until i turn on the key , when the key is on they both have 12 volts with the switch in the run position but when i put it in the off position they both still have 12 volts . I stumped

Re: Run Stop switch not working
Unplug the switch and test out of circuit. If it functions, there must be a bypass somewhere in the wiring to the coils.

Re: Run Stop switch not working
Either the switch contacts/wires are shorted together.
Can you disconnect (remove)the switch then each wire again to see if it's wiring or bad switch?
