Timing belt replacement.

timing belt replacement. 78 gl1000.
Just got started and already confused.
Ok turned stator to get to correct marks. T1.
But both big belt pulleys are about 90 degrees counterclockwise of where they ought to be. The "UP" marks are at 9 oclock and not at 12 oclock. Bike ran fine like that. Should I change things or just put on the new belts the way it is????

The cam pulleys turn slower than the crank. Crank the engine around to T1 again until you have the engine showing at T1, and the "UP" marks facing upwards (at 12 o'clock).
