there should be a bolt here (my other gl1000 engines all have it) ... but why ? it doesn't seem to have a purpose.

update : seems that this is a long (8 x 175) bolt that connects the two halves of the engine case together. was worried that the P.O. might have snapped it off but the new bolt threaded right in with no problem.

I knew that....lol... at least I should have since I have had the case separated on my 76. Thanks for the update. Strange that the bolt was missing.
