Hi everyone,
I've got the following problem with my 1979 gl1000 starter : I press the "start" button, and the starter doesn't turn. I can hear it tries, but it's like freezed.
But when I unmount the starter from the bike, it turns fine
I've done all the following things :
- Starter overhaul a few months ago (complete clean up, and changed the brushes), and relay is new
- Tested my battery : I've started my guzzi 1100 califfornia with that battery, just before, just after, no problem.
- I've tried with my car battery (a 1900cm3 diesel) : if a disconnect my bike battery, and just connect the car battery, same problem (that car battery starts my car every day). But when I keep my bike battery and connect my car battery with cables, then the starter turns fine.
-I've tested the cables (and the new relay) : connectors good and clean, 0 ohm resistance, everything is fine.
Anyone an idea what's happening ? Is my starter dead ? Or is somewhere the engine too hard to crank ? Bad oil, clutch, or whatever ?
I'd appreciate any idea !!! I'm stucked.
Starter problem ? Or engine hard to crank ?
