Oil level check

Post by W109driver »

I know this is rudimentary but my Haynes is very vague.
Checking oil level.
Is it on side stand or centre stand?.
Engine running or Oil allowed to settle?

Thanks chaps

Thought so but thought I'd double check. Thanks.

Early models don't have the wiper.

Both of my '76 US models do.

The '75's don't. But I did manage to find a dipstick conversion on eBay for £20 a while back. Fits my '75 perfectly, looks good and is SO much easier than using the sight glass.

I've been watching for one of those kits for a while. After all the effort to get down there and look :( I can't tell where the level is even after wiping inside and out..
