Oil level sight glass replacement

Recently while working on my 75 GL1000 engine I got to thinking about the oil sight glass. 75s didn't have a wiper in them. 76 onwards did. Anyways... I got the one out of the 75...glass is quite thick and was able to get it out in one piece with a bit of heat and 10mm socket and a hammer... My 76 casings weren't so lucky. Glass is quite a bit thinner and shattered easily.
Good ole Honda OEM's are not available of course. Which led me to quite a bit of research. Finally I found a glass to replace it. Courtesy of BMW. Expensive.. But it works. I also think that a sight glass from Suzuki's DL 1000 and 650 would fit and be cheaper as well. But I'm unable to confirm that.
At $70 australian the beemer glass is not cheap. But considering the rebuild I'm doing it's good.
I've also picked up a 1200 primary chain tensioner to go in as well. Happy days.

Hey. No I don't but bmw have done something very smart. That same oil site glass is generic on the majority of their models.
So you should be able to go to any beemer distributor/dealership and ask for them.
