Handle bar / throttle cables

Post by Brendan65 »

I'd like to install some lower rise bars and was wondering about the throttle cables.
Do you think they might be too long or could I get away with a bigger bend in the cables ?
I have a mid-rise bar on it now.

There's some slack in there now to account for the rotation of the handlebars. You might be able to get away with it by either pulling the cable one way or another, or possibly re-routing it. As long as the throttle snaps closed on its own when you let go (check it with the handlebars at full lock in both directions as well) you're fine.

Great - thanks for your input.
I've ordered a bar with a 2" rise ... the bars now have a about a 5.5" rise and pull back more.
I'll post pics to the thread when it shows up. :D
