79 GL1000 Rear crankcase leak

Post by goatchaw2020 »

I've got a 79 that I bought and got started after god knows how many winters. She's pretty and clean but we all know about the bugs in project bikes.

I cleaned the underside after spilling a bit of oil and I noticed it looks like the source is at the rear crankcase cover.

My question is, can I just fix it with some liquid gasket and call it a day? or is this area of the bike under regular pressure? I dont WANT to drop the engine out of this thing, but I suppose I might have to. Any advice?

I have oil leaking from water pump and when I ride it, the oil blows back on engine.
