Fuel Filter question

Post by robdot1964@gmail.com »

My 79 GL1000 sat for 31 years before I found it. The fuel tank rusted away and a new used one was installed. I cleaned it the best I could but I rely on fuel filters to keep the carbs clean. I've been using small engine filters and they plug up quite quickly. I've been using larger filters (in line) but I noticed the engine struggles after 5000 rpm. Thankfully a GL1000 doesn't need to be pushed over 5000 rpm. Is there a standard for the fuel filters with a specific flow rate?

How about just use the Honda filter made for it?

I'll check with my local dealer. Partzilla is pretty expensive shipping to Canada. Thanks for the advice

I went to Amazon and they have filters similar to the ones I use. I think a trip to the dealer is in order. Sometimes cheaping out isn't the way to go!

I wouldn't recommend it. If you want to see why, check out this thread: Randakk's High-Performance Fuel Filter

Rnadakk's now has the sintered bronze element in an inert plastic case.

Randaak is the guy to go to for all things Goldwing. I just put a new filter on for my first trip. Leaving Nova Scotia and heading for PEI. First major run with the old girl.
