I have a 1981Goldwing GL 1100. Mine came with the Vetter Fairing and bags. The rear brake caliper was sticking bad as in not returning and dragging brakes. I rebuilt the rebuilt the caliper with all new parts, cleaned inside for any rust, etc. Replaced pads and now they work fine except I can't seem to get it bled completely. When you step on the rear brake, the pedal goes down completly. If you step on it, then let off and step on it again. Almost normal pedal. If you pump it, normal pedal. Piston goes out then goes back in when you release brake. Fonts don't do this, but the only thing I did to front was replaced pads. I didn't thing the 1981 GL 1100 had linked brakes. I know my 1994 GL 1500 does. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Roy

In the "how to" section is a great video regarding brake problems.

Linked brakes were introduced first on the 1983 Gl1100.

Re: GL 1100 rear brake problem
still can't seem to find it. It didn't do that until I rebuilt the rear Caliper. And I used all new parts for that. I had to do the rebuild as the piston was hanging up. Now step on the brake it engages, but peddle goes all the way down. Let off, step on it again and then it is normal. No spongy, no all the way, just good solid brake.
