Sidecar for a GL1000

Post by brianbkak »

Hello all, I wanted to ask if anyone has installed a sidecar on a GL1000. I am in the middle of a restore and would like to add one and match the paint when the time comes. Any info on type of sidecar and how it was installed would be helpful. Also any tips on sidecars on the GL would be appreciated. I know there are some considerations to addressed so I will take any info you have.
Thanks! Brian A.

I have a sidecar on my 1978 GL1000. It works great towing the sidecar around. Mine is the Escort model (I believe California Sidecar made it).

Let me know what you would like to know. It is absolutely critical to get the setup correct or else it will be a handful to ride. Setting up the sidecar takes some time, patience and trial and error.
