77 NEW TO ME. OIL LIGHT COMES ON ONCE IT'S BENN STARTED AFTER ABOUT 30-40 SECONDS AND STAYS ON MOST OF THE TIME. CHANGED THE OIL AND FILTER, SEEMS TO HAVE GOOD CIRCULATION, NO TAPPING, NO UNUSAUAL NOISE, DOES NOT GET HOT. SEEMS TO BE PUMPING GOOD. ANY IDEAS ON WHAT'S GOING ON HERE?
THANKS,
MIKE

Re: oil light?
Just a bad switch,or perhaps a chaffed wire.the switch is on the right side, top to block, one wire. When the light stays on,unhook the wire, the light should go out.If it does, the switch is bad to oil pressure is below 10psi.It the light stays on ,it's pinched to ground somewhere.

Re: oil light?

Re: oil light?
Wow, a situation where an idoit light worked. That is not such a bad repair either so glad you found a solution short of a full teardown.

Been away but thought I'd post this pic. Don't forget the screen. Duh, easy to access and a quick PM item.
You can't fix stupid.

Re: oil light?
Wow, that really was blocked!! I would be running some high detergent oil through that wing and changing it (and the filter) very frequently for the next 2000 to 3000 miles to try and clean out the inside of the engine.. If there is that much gunk in the strainer, who knows what the rest of the inside of the engine looks like!!
