2 years ago I replaced the clutch assembly. Admitted I don't ride this bike all that often. Couple of weeks ago I started her and the clutch wouldn't disingauge. I read here how to rev the engine and hit the rear brake. Okay all is good. Not. That works but after 30 seconds with the bike in gear and the clutch lever pulled the rear wheel starts turning again. Tried this a dozen times with no change. What now?
Edit: Haven't rechecked the cable adjustment yet but seem like it is right or not.???

Put some seafoam in the oil, (or ATF), ride a little then change the oil. Cleans the gunk out of things.

Oil flushed when I replaced the plates. Mileage maybe 1000.

An almost new clutch makes me consider warped steel plates. Were they new or used, and did you check them on a surface plate? How much clutch disc gap was there when you put it together? Adjusting the cable is the first step, for sure.

The plates were new. EBC if I recall. Oil is 10/30. Cable now adjusted to spec. First 1000 miles she operated just fine. This occurred after sitting all winter.

Wouldn't hurt to change the oil again. New clutch can shed loose fibers during break in. I would ride it and get things good and hot before draining the oil to make sure everything is in suspension.

Re: Gl1000 clutch hang up
When you rebuilt it did you include the clutch B disc or replace it with spacer plates? It's possible (although relatively unlikely) that's it's broken a rivet (or several) and is now interfering with full clutch disengagement.
