Dismantling tail light for re-chrome of back-plate.

Post by benc »

Have any owners experienced the problem of being unable to dismantle the rear light on a 1975 GL1000? Inside the back-plate is the reflector, which seems bonded to the socket for the bulb, which goes through a hole in the back plate, ending with a flange. It can't seem to be removed from the back plate as the flange is bigger than the hole. Other than hack-sawing the bulb socket in half, I can't work it out. Have any owners been here before and know what to do?
