IS the wiring and electrical system slightly different on UK models to USA models? I have what I believe to be a 1975 UK model GL1000 and I think the electrics differ slightly to USA models. I have HYMER manual which was given to me when I bought the bike last year but the wiring diagram in the book looks different to what my bike actually has. I have noticed that there only two diodes on my bike but the manual looks as though there should be four. There are not empty mounts for two more diodes.
Also the wiring for the headlight switches appears different to the manual diagram. Can anyone advise please and tell me if there is a UK wiring diagram?

UK wiring is different, but I don't know where you can find the correct diagram. Did Honda sell a UK factory service manual?

Re: Wiring diagram for UK models
I haven't seen one. Maybe Haynes did a manual but I would have to trawl eBay. The other difference with my GL1000 is that there was, until I changed it, a switch on the right handlebar cluster for the headlights to be turned on and off, but I had to replace the assembly to repair the starter button which had gone beyond repair.
So I noticed that my wiring diagram in the Hymer manual has no switch assembly for the lights on the right handlebar.

The US right hand switch has no provision for switching the headlight off because it was mandated ot be on all the time the bike was running. So the wiring for your UK/Euro bike with the switch is different.Riccardo3257 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2024 3:33 am I haven't seen one. Maybe Haynes did a manual but I would have to trawl eBay. Also, the US bikes have different lighting circuit for the 75-77 because an auxiliary reserve lighting unit was fitted.
The Haynes manual has the circuit diagram as does the genuine Honda manual.
'Impossible' is just a level of difficulty! The only stupid question is the one you didn't ask first!
